Once a year, the LLM team takes a little time off together to reflect on the past year and engage in real discussion about all things LLM Design. We talk about where we are, where we want to go next, and the things we want along the way–whether that’s certain types of projects, learning new skills, greater responsibility, or different office snacks. Basically, we tap into our collective wisdom to dream up the big ideas that will shape the future of the company.
We also believe that transparency within a small company is extremely important. To that end, we practice open-book management at LLM Design, providing employees with financial information and reporting. Not only is it an invaluable teaching moment for younger employees to understand the ins and outs of running a business, but it also helps us all make better business decisions and remain actively invested in the company’s future.
And of course, there’s the whole relax-renew-refresh aspect to the retreat. Think epic cheese plate paired with a crisp rosé enjoyed on a deck overlooking the ocean. And when the retreat was over, we came back ready to create, design, make, and build things better than ever before. After all, as the great Deepak Chopra said:
“The highest levels of performance come to people who are centered, intuitive, creative, and reflective – people who know to see a problem as an opportunity.”
